Michael J. Fox got to suck face with Supergirl (Helen Slater),
and there I was with my ice cream stick.
After two years of having the same layout, I finally remodeled my blog. There was much more I wanted to add, but didn't have the space. Everything you see on my bulletin board is actually what I had up on my own bulletin board throughout my childhood and teenage years. I changed my bulletin board every few months. The Polaroid I created is the most recent photo (2007) when I was on oxygen. I wanted a touch of grunge added to the picture.
Three years ago when I created my blog, I wanted a title that represented me. My Wonder Years does just that, as I reflect quite a bit on my years as a child and teenager. I was lucky to have my own Winnie Cooper for 8 months in 1994-95, but just like in the TV show The Wonder Years (my favorite show of all time), my girl and I didn't end up together. Life sometimes turns out that way.
I created the 'My Wonder Years' header and just filled in the letters with color. The items surrounding the letters are the following (from left to right) Gizmo (Gremlins, 1984), Frogger (Frogger, 1981 arcade game), Lassie (one of my favorite TV shows), WWF (classic WWF logo circa 1984), My Pet Monster (stuffed toy from 1986), Marty McFly (Back To The Future Part II, 1989), Slimer (cartoon series The Real Ghostbusters, 1986), Pogo Ball (1980's craze), M.U.S.C.L.E. (popular 80's toy line a.k.a. Millions of Unusual Small Creatures Lurking Everywhere, 1979), I Love 80's Girls Sticker featuring Elisabeth Shue (Ali Mills with an 'i' from The Karate Kid, 1984).
After spending a month sorting through photos, I chose these several photos to surround my blog.
Left side:
* Taekwondo sticker, which features all the belts I achieved during my 4 years of taking Taekwondo.
* Jesse & Lady, this photo is of myself and my favorite dog, Lady. We had Lady from 1986 - 2000. We took in Lady when she was 2 years old. She passed away at the age of 16.5.
* Ice Cream- A photo of myself while watching The Secret of My Success (1987) starring Michael J. Fox and Helen Slater (1984's Supergirl).
* Karate photo of my Dad, myself, and our instructor, Mr. Louis. This photo is from 1987.
Right side:
* Atari & Nintendo sticker- In my opinion these were the two greatest gaming systems. Atari brought the fun of the arcade into the home. During the game crash of 1982, Nintendo came along 3 years later and forever changed the video gaming system.
* CRAZY- One of the funniest pictures of myself, with Lady in the background barking 'Get me out of here!"
* Pac-Man & Ms. Pac-Man- Two of the greatest arcade games. Pac-Man is one of my favorite arcade/Atari video games.
* Snake Mountain- You don't even want to know what this is worth (brand new) on the Internet. Anyway, I'd always talk into the microphone and say "Prepare to meet your doom!" That photo is from 1984. Check out the Pac-Man curtains in the background. :)
Bulletin Board:
I won't go into an explanation of everything on my bulletin board, but I will make a note below.
Donkey Kong sticker (1981), Save The Clock Tower (Back To The Future, 1985), Tom Petty sticker, Rocky Balboa sticker, My Pet Monster sticker (1986), Dressy Jesse Garbage Pail Kids card (extra card, 20B, May 1985), Masters of The Universe picture (1983), Scooby Doo sticker, Reminder: Back To The Future Waterford Drive-In (1985), Jesse & Kama photo (May 2007), Batman logo sticker (1989), Link (Legend of Zelda) sticker (1987), Led Zeppelin sticker (1994), Robyn Lively mini poster (1989, from Teen Witch & The Karate Kid Part III), Highland Middle School Honor Roll Ribbon (never missed the honor roll in middle school, 6th - 8th grade), The Flash sticker (DC comics, 1991), Super Mario Bros. sticker w/ Bowser (Nintendo, 1985), Poppin Good scratch 'n sniff sticker (1984), 96.3 WHYT radio car bumper sticker (1986), Hot Stuff scratch 'n sniff sticker (1984), Knight Rider sticker (1986), Wrestlemania III sticker (Pontiac, MI, 1987),
More than likely I'll update the pictures yearly.
